WHILE THE CITY IS TAKING ON SMALL VIOLATORS – FAY ROAD STILL HAS THE BIGGEST JUNK HEAP – AND THE CITY HAS ESSENTIALLY GIVEN UP TRYING TO GET IT CLEANED UP.
For months, the city has mentioned that they have been focusing on nuisances on residential property and in city council they have mentioned that they are driving around looking for things they can cite people for, and now it’s apparent that they are essentially driving around south side and largely ignoring the north side.
They aren’t following up on complaints per se – and while they will respond to complaints, these inspectors are just assigned to park, get out of their car, and take pics of peoples houses so that that can earn the city some bank.
The nearly 100 letters below were sent to residents and property owners in the city in just February and March. Some told property owners to clean up by a date, others included a citation, and others threatened daily fines, and referrals to housing court.
Cleaning up south side is a nice thing for those who live or work down there, but to what end, it is apparent that these inspectional spies are overstepping their bounds and authority, entering on to properties to photograph and make their case.
In some cases, the warning letters are warranted, such as running a full fledged auto dealership out of 4 Arch St, and storing multiple unregistered vehicles ungaraged on site. Of how about the city telling a resident what they can and cannot store in the bed of their pickup truck. In other cases – you be the judge.

I don’t really have a problem with many of these. And as I drive around Framingham, I admit to seeing much more of these issues on the southside. So I don’t really think they are picking on the SS – that’s just where the issues are. Certainly, the city can see from this there is a parking issue in town, and maybe that should tip them off to stop the expansion of mutli-family dwellings.
