Homestead and Omaha Steaks have one thing in common, they are both have frozen meats. And that’s where the comparison ends.
We know that Homestead Steaks has applied for a Board of Health permit, what it’s for, we do not yet know.
If it’s the same company that I know… it is is known to sell via a semi-truck that shows up in a parking lot.
This company has numerous complaints against it, specifically through the Better Business Bureau. It has a 3 day return policy on it’s products, and they make it virtually impossible to get your money back. People have complained that if you try to return product under their policy, they will claim that ‘they can’t control how the meat is stored after purchase’, and therefore can’t take the return.
And the products are not cheap… well some of them are. They often will have bundle deals which cost in the hundreds, and to get the masses to show up for the truck, they will advertise heavily, their ’20 for $40′ ribeye deal. These steaks are about 3 oz of thin meat each similar to what you can get at Dollar Tree for a buck each.
The quality is going to be crap, the chicken will be gristly, and the steaks will be soaked in pineapple juice, as a tenderizer. It is poor quality, flavorless, with questionable texture and definitely reminiscent of the “mystery meat” you grew up with your your school cafeteria.
We’ve requested the full application file from the health department.
