Just before 4pm on Sunday June 5th it was reported to us that major police activity was taking place at 403 Hollis Street, just south of Downtown. Detours were in place routing people around the scene.

It is reported that a subject is barricaded on the second floor of a Hollis Street house, and the windows are boarded up. Drivers reported seeing police taking rifles out of their trunks and heading to the scene.

There is apparently a suspect and a victim on the second floor. A total of 5 individuals were cleared by police from the first floor.

At 3:40 pm it was heard over the scanner… “all units watch your crossfire” “we’re making contact now”

An ambulance had arrived to the scene at about the same time.

At about 3:55 pm it was heard that the first floor had been cleared and 5 people were removed from that floor by police.

At 4:05 pm the third floor of the house was also cleared and they were moving to the second floor where the incident is.

At 4:15 pm, the house was cleared and there was no victim or no suspect found.

Over the scanner it was said that the initial call was confirmed as coming from an apartment #1 at a house on the 400 block of Hollis St, we are purposely withholding the exact address. An interpreter was brought in to speak to the initial caller.

At 4:20 pm it was heard over the scanner “all officers should be reminded to check your safety and to remove your round”, and that the road and blockades were to be reopened to travel.

In the response, Officer Dom Guarino suffered a hand laceration and was looked at by paramedics who were on scene, and he was transported to the hospital for further treatment by patrol car.

At 4:30 pm the scene was clear.

Updates and rumors: It has been suggested that this was an episode of “swatting” – calling the police and falsely reporting a serious crime to ellicit the maximum response. In this case it was a call of a person being shot and the shooter and resident being holed up at 403 Hollis Street on the 2nd floor. It was reported that the caller resided at 400 Hollis Street, 1st floor. Police after clearing the scene, questioned the caller, requiring a spanish translator. It was also reported that at least one person was arrested (or detained) at the scene.
