REVEALED: Plan to Demolish Seabra Plaza and rebuild as Apartments

EXISTING CONDITIONS

A filing received today shows the true scope of a plan to raze the Seabra Supermarket plaza and build another MASSIVE apartment building. I wonder what Beth, Kathy, and Christine thinks of this proposal, and if they’ll rise up against a plan that’s not in their backyard….

“Subject to further review by the Planning Board should the Board grant the requested use
variance, the Petitioner proposes to demolish the existing 26,500+/- square foot retail plaza on the
Project Site and construct a mixed-use development comprised of residential and retail uses. The
proposed mixed-use project as contemplated under the submitted materials includes a structure of
approximately 332,300 +/- square feet, with approximately 10,000+- square in street level retail
space, and 322,300+/- square foot of multi-family space with approximately 285 apartment units,
of which at least 10% will be affordable (the “Project”). The Project as proposed would be served
by 377+/- parking spaces, with more than 90% of those located in a subsurface garage. The
Project is proposing an on-site pedestrian network consisting of sidewalks and crosswalks that
will connect to the existing sidewalks along the east side of Beaver Street and the south side of
Waverley Street, as well as landscaping and stormwater management improvements.
