WHY THIS MATTERS: The city determined years ago that it was incorrectly billing some customers less than they were supposed to, and this went on for years. Now the city is seeking to correct the issue by billing several condominium customers thousands of dollars each. The reality is, that rates had been increased to correct and stabilize the water and sewer enterprise fund years ago, and this was an error on the end of the city, so I guess the question is, should individual owners be on the hook for something that isn’t their fault? Or should they have questioned their low low low… water bills over the years? Alternatively, there are hundreds and hundreds of water customers listed below as have been paying much less than the rest of us for water and sewer. Perhaps it’s time for them to begin paying back what we were paying each and every billing cycle… you decide!
THE FOIA REQUEST: On 2/27/2024, Mr. Robert Lewis sent an email response to Brian Sullivan which had “Multifamily water billing issue data” as part of the subject line. The email response from Mr. Lewis contained a spreadsheet where Mr. Lewis stated he removed some columns for confidentiality reasons. I request a copy of the spreadsheet in its entirety with no columns or rows removed. The water discount was not applied for and appears to have been applied in a “random” fashion so there is no reason for confidentiality.
