A Worcester Republican Senator with a history of doubting election integrity, looks to be meddling in Framingham’s voter rolls

A FOIA request came in today which was apparently submitted by an assistant to new Worcester Republican State Senator Peter Durant. He has been pursuing claims of voter fraud here in the state. The new FOIA indicates he is concerned with voter fraud here in Framingham as well.

In his FOIA request, Daniel Hickey, of the Massachusetts Republican State Committee, filed a request providing a list of names, which has not been disclosed publicly, asking on behalf of the senator, if the voters who are in the list I have attached were registered at the RMV.

In interviews, as Durant tells it, after he and his wife were married, they went to the RMV to change her name, she was registered to vote under the new name, but when she went to vote, both her maiden name and married names were registered.

Durant is also concerned about when non-US residents are registering to drive, i.e. get a license, under the new law that allows it, that the RMV registers them all to vote.

Because of his inquiries to the Secretary of State on these matters, it was investigated and found that these were based upon unsubstantiated conspiracy theroies.

What is it about republicans and conspiracy theories anyway?

In any case, there is a republican state senator meddling in our voter rolls. We are seeking to get the list of names he seeks to discredit.

Durant has served as the State Senator for the Worcester & Hampshire district since the Fall of 2023 after a special election, he served prior as a State Rep for the 6th Worcester district from 2011 to 2023.
