We were asked to investigate whether Natick Police Lt Rossi took FBI Academy training at the Natick taxpayers expense only to be hired as Ashland’s police chief immediately after. We also were concerned that an undetermined MCAD (discrimination) lawsuit involving Rossi and sex assaulting Lt Quilty, was not being taken into account in her application for Ashland’s police chief.
Who was picked, well background checks, and employment verification are not typically done for the candidate not selected, as this info has no bearing in comparing candidates. The Framingham Source is reporting that they however are reviewing both candidates background checks before making a pick… So we just don’t know.
The first two pages appear to show impropriety, the third page shows the dates that Rossi was away at the 10 week FBI training program. Discussion outside of the actual official application, job search, and interview process. The Town Manager Michael Herbert – seemed to appreciate the inappropriateness of this request by Cara Rossi. The dates are suspect. If Rossi was planning on applying for the Chief of Police role in Ashland, documented as far back as December 1, 2021, had she desired a promotion outside of Natick, should she have done the FBI program on the dime of Natick taxpayers? Notice the graduation of the program was mid-March, and the interview process in earnest taking place immediately after her graduation.
Did they hold off on the interviews, until Rossi was available? There are too many questions here. The questions point to the possibility impropriety between Rossi and Ashland Town Manager Herbert.
