Top secret racial equity training provided to Framingham Teachers

We are middle grounders. Some of us on the FU staff lean left and some of us lean right. The group of us are in the middle. We don’t talk national politics amongst ourselves as we are not on the same page. However we are on the same page on one thing. We want to present the local breadcrumbs that we find to you our readers.

There was a series of powerpoints on racial equity presented to the minds that mold our youth, the FPS teachers and support staff. A few of the slides were leaked and they were pretty far left. Many parents were upset.

Via a FOIA request, we reached out to the school department and they after a delay responded. We were able to get our hands on one of the three presentations made to the school dept. Two were unable to be obtained.

THE ASK, IN TWO PARTS SUMMARIZED HERE: You have requested that you be provided with copies of the following records:  We are looking for the presentation slides, speaker notes if available, and video of presentation if available which contained the following slides and was used in a training by the Framingham public school system In a subsequent email seeking clarification, we received the following response: Please send any presentations dealing with race and bias over the last three weeks.   We do not have the date or title.  We are requesting this for a group of concerned parents.  Some very upset.

THE RESPONSE:  There was one presentation at a school program on August 26, 2020 presented by a Framingham School Department employee.  The power point of his presentation is being sent with this response. There were two presentations on September 2, 2020, one on September 3, 2020 and one presentation on September 4, 2020.  All of the presenters for these presentations were persons who are not employees of Framingham Public Schools.  All of the presenters have informed Framingham that the presentations are intellectual property and/or propriety information belonging to them or their organization; the presenters did not consent to the release of the presentations; and Framingham does not possess a copy of the presentation.  As such, these presentations are considered as trade secrets and/or proprietary information and are exempt from disclosure under the Public Records Law under exemption (a) and (g) of the Public Records Law, M.G.L. chapter 4, section 7. Please note that you have a right to appeal the City’s response to your request through the administrative process provided by the Supervisor of Public Records in 950 CMR 32.08 as well as by instituting a civil action in the superior court pursuant to G.L. c. 66, § 10A.

  1. I am a staff member at an FPS location. I am very against CRT. It is straight up Marxism. It’s not just the kids who are being indoctrinated, we the staff & teachers are too. Most of us are well-meaning and have no idea what this stuff is. So when and “expert” tells us all what CRT “really is” over a staff training session, most just assume it’s fine and go along with it. I would like to send info to you from our “professional development” days.
