Shattered Promises & Broken Dreams: A look back at the Spicer Platform

- November 20, 2021 - Frank Wood

In fewer than 9 months after assuming office on Jan 1 2018, Mayor Spicer recognized that few if any of her campaigned upon platform promises would be met. To ensure nobody would be able to track her promises she deleted both her 3 page summary of promises and her 36 page full campaign platform. It’s good she did – because she didn’t successfully accomplish much of anything that she set out to. Unfortunately – while she deleted the page, she failed to delete the files. Let’s see how she did…

We can’t even celebrate promise 1, a smooth transition to cityhood… or promise 2, a strategic plan… or promise 3, a collaborative and transparent government.

Director of Neighborhood Services and neighborhood groups – nope.

Quarterly “City-Wide Conversations” that Count – maybe, loosely, if you take creative liberties.

Mayor’s ‘311’ Hotline – Call or Email for Prompt Service – Fuck No! Unless you are a friend of the mayor you can forget about a email or call back!

It’s Your City Hall – We’re At Your Service – Ditto!

Excellence in Education & Schools – like they say on report cards – ‘Developing’

We won’t hold your hands and walk you through each and every failed promise of the mayor… read through the pages below and enjoy the laugh. And better yet relish in the fact that we won’t have to deal with four more years of Chief Ribbon Cutter and little else.

Not that I voted for the outgoing Mayor I thought at the time Mr Stefanini was the better choice and I still do, but she was elected and we should as a new city rallied around her to do a great job. Instead from the first CC meeting the Mayor was taken to task for all the past problems even though she was on the job for less than a week. You the CC never gave her a chance constantly fighting with her at every turn, you voted for a change but kept it the same. I wish you well Charlie good luck but remember you have 2-3 on that board all wanting your job. Oldguy out for now, my gripes are with the treatments of DPW workers. That will go on till they are recognized as the group that keeps the engine running. Bugga Bugga
