This is FU

I write to you in regard to the unfortunate decision made by the For Profit – Tenet Enterprise on MetroWest Hospital. The decision to Close Cancer Center due to lack of volume is preposterous. Due to COVID 19, there was less volume as we all know in early 2020, patients stayed home and avoided preventive care as well as Immunocompromised tried not to come for follow ups. By 2020 July, Tenet’s reason to remove an essential service at MetroWest medical center is ludicrous and disruptive to our patients, who are low socio economic, diverse and lack Primary care providers and referral base.

I urge you to please support Metro west medical staff and patients and their families by questioning the underlying intention, the decision to close Cancer Center, not only affects our Cancer patients, but overall referrals to Cardiology, Pulmonary, Gastroenterology, General surgery, Pathology, Hospitalist and Most important Radiology. Once these providers start to leave the community and expand their services outside Framingham, that would drop a huge burden on the community to find excellent Physicians for their day-to-day care. The snowball effect is nothing but disaster.

We are concerned about suboptimal care due to Nurses shortages, PCA shortages, Technicians to help with testing, With the decision to close the cancer center, we are at the verge of losing talented , loyal and compassionate Consultant physicians and you can only imagine the next phase of lack of High quality Physicians to the already crumbling medical center.
