$20,000+ in drones purchased out of LETF because FPD blew a grant.

Did you see our initial post on the drones? If so – skip down and learn how the FPD blew a grant, so purchased it through the Law Enforcement Trust Fund (LETF) – an oversight free source of free money for the FPD.

As former police Chief Steve Trask was leaving, he purchased 4 vehicles as a going away gift for his Deputy Chiefs.

We heard that Lester Baker has been spending more money at a faster rate out of the LETF than any Chief before him, so we submitted a FOIA on that. We have allowed the city an extension to respond. The city has told us we will know more by June 2nd.

The following pages below illustrate how the LETF is a means for the police to spend money with no oversight from the city or it’s city council. As the police ask for more money this budget season – perhaps we should consider that they spend non-budgeted money at a rapid pace, with no oversight.
