SO IN THE ARTICLE THE MAYOR IS SPICER….
HOWEVER TWO YEARS LATER, HISTORY MAY BE REPEATING ITSELF – SO WHEN YOU READ THIS POST, WHEN ‘THE MAYOR’ IS MENTIONED, YOU CAN THINK OF IT AS SISITSKY TOO.
Tuesday night, the City Council will meet and will discuss and approve the Mayor’s appointments for boards and commissions, among other things. One such appointment is a seat on the Parks & Recreation Commission.
The mayor has nominated 48 year old Tony Tolson Sr. to be on the commission. This is a great fit. Tolson is a youth football legend here in Framingham. In 2011, he took the helm of a team that lost every game the season prior, and transformed them to a team that went to the national championships in Florida.
The 5 person, Parks and Recreation Commission is responsible for determining the policies for all recreation programming and facilities.
Therein lies the problem, his 24-year old is an supervisory employee of the Parks & Recreation Staff.
Anthony Tolson Jr. is a Framingham native and a FSU graduate. He started in his role in Fiscal Year 2019, replacing the former Recreation Supervisor David Sequeira who left Framingham to work for the Town of Lincoln.

Are they the same person?

In essence, dad will make decisions that will affect the life and career trajectory of his son. In the least this is a conflict of interest.
On Tony Tolson’s application to serve on the Parks and Recreation Commission he was asked if any potential conflict of interest existed and he responded, “no”.

Perhaps Junior forgot to tell Senior about his new job…
We commend the mayor on making a great pick for the Parks and Recreation Commission, however we feel that Tolson must not be approved for the role. Neither the mayor nor the applicant divulged the potential conflict of interest, when the conflict is clear.
Tony Tolson Sr, must not be appointed to this role.
