McAuliffe Charter holds evidence of crimes at $2300 ransom, in order to coverup their coverup of a un-prosecuted $50,000 larceny

On July 7th, FU filed a FOIA/PRR request with Christa McAuliffe Charter School after learning about a case of a larceny by an employee. What we know thus far, is expressed in the following timeline. It is important to recognize that from what we can tell, that nobody outside of the Framingham Police, the school’s administration and it’s Board of Directors knew anything about this crime, until July 5th, when a FOIA request was responded to… requested by the former Executive Director of the school, after his last day on the job, June 24th, 2022. The request yielded a police report that got us sleuthing.

November 2021 Dayshel Reid, then Director of Business and Operations for the school, she used a city business account to wire over $50,000 to two lenders – Freedom Financial and Lending Club. (per police report)

December 10, 2021 Dayshel Reid closed on a house in Marlborough, with a private lender and a HUD loan. (per Middlesex Registry of Deeds)

February 16, 2022 Bob Berman, Chair, Board of Trustees, he was notified by accountant that irregularities were found in one of their bank accounts. (per Bob Berman statement to the SOURCE)

February 18, 2022 Dayshel Reid put on administrative leave. (per police report)

February 19, 2022 Dayshel Reid resigned from her position. (per Bob Berman statement to the SOURCE)

March 18, 2022 Police were called to file a report of a theft with then Executive Director of school, Frank Tipton. Police Report: “Mr. Tipton stated that they did not want to file criminal charges.” (per police report)

April 2022 Dayshel Reid is hired to be the Director of Operations at American Promise, a Concord based, civic and social justice organization which aims to “combat money corruption of our political system” (per LinkedIn)

June 24, 2022 Frank Tipton filed a FOIA request for a specific police report.

July 5, 2022 Police report released.

Until July 5, nobody from the public knew about this crime… And we still don’t know who knew what, who hid what, who decided not to prosecute, etc. In our July 7th FOIA/PRR request we asked for the following things:

  1. Seeking any communication between the Christa McAuliffe school, or any of it’s board of trustee members (on their christa McAuliffe email or their personal emails) and the any police officer, or the mayor, or any member of the FPS administration which mention “theft” “embezzlement” “embezzled” “pay off debt” “dayshel”, “22-001554” or “reid”. Date range 1/1/2022-6/24/2022
  2. Seeking the inboxes on their Christa McAuliffe or personal emails used to conduct Christa McAuliffe business of Bob Berman, John Buckley, Chris Petrini, Amy Ludlam, Danielle Barney, Tarek Tabbara, Jeff Gonneville, Rick Felty, and Kim Comatas to be searched for the following words – “theft” “embezzlement” “embezzled” “pay off debt” “dayshel”, “22-001554” or “reid”.  Date range 1/1/2022-6/24/2022
  3. Seeking all emails sent or received by Dayshel Reid in February 2022. Seeking all emails sent of received by Frank Tipton on his personal account or Christa McAuliffe  account between him and Dayshel Reid between 2/1/2022 and 5/1/2022.   Seeking all emails sent of received by Frank Tipton on his personal account or Christa McAuliffe  account between him and any police officer between 2/1/2022 and 5/1/2022.
  4. Seeking all meeting minutes, meeting agendas, where the the embezzlement, theft of funds by Dayshel Reid was discussed. (including executive sessions).

While our request was extensive, thorough, and would have shown exactly what we were seeking… who knew what and when – we didn’t expect a fulfillment estimate request like this.

See the fufillment estimate request below, and if you can – contribute a buck or two into our GoFundMe. The money raised will go towards getting to the truth and holding those who wronged us, the people of Framingham and beyond – accountable.

    1. We have a request in with DESE. If they truly notified them when they discovered the problem – thats great. If they didn’t there’s serious matters.
