This is FU

On Tuesdays night it was reported to us that a long abandoned property at 153 Irving Street showed signs of life. We were told that on the second floor it could be seen, lights and movement in the windows, on the first floor a window could be seen open. We made a post on the FU Facebook page, asking our readers to watch what happened next.

Neighbors to this house have been noticing ‘things’ for a few days, but were reluctant to call the police, as they wanted to avoid any retribution to themselves or their own property.

A single call however was made to the police about the situation, ‘a person or persons inside an abandoned building’, and the caller was told that ‘this was not an emergency’, and that if ‘nobody was getting hurt’ nothing could be done about it.

So it seemed that the homeless had a new home to live in, and destroy as they saw fit to do so.

Change took place the following day, Wednesday morning we were notified that the police were at the house. Assessor data told police that the owner was John A., but they could not locate John. A vehicle in the rear of the building, was also registered to John A, and using registry data, John was contacted. John told police that he had not owned the property in 4 or 5 years and he believed it to be bank owned.

The police’s next step was to round up whomever they could, and secure the house as much as possible but they stated that ‘these people will come back’. It is unknown if any arrests were made on scene.
