Natick Varsity Hockey scandal involving bullying, hazing, sexism, and abuse.

This letter went out to hockey families yesterday, 1/30/2023. 70 families received this letter. The misconduct is bullying, hazing, verbal abuse, violent behavior, sexism, and treating the players like trash.

Coach LaCouture has had personal family medical issues at home in the last year. This is not an excuse to behave badly. He also runs a hockey training camp in Natick as well. This runs out of the town arena, and likely will be closed as well.

Read the letter below and read about the JV incident below, and how it contributed to the Varsity coach being on leave.

The issue regarding the Junior Varsity team happened at the end of December. There was one player who posted a racist video into a group chat and all the kids had to attend a two day training on bystander responsibility with witnessing racist actions. The majority of the team never saw or knew about the video because they did not participate in that group chat. The video was posted by a student from another school and the school was upset nobody reported it. It was about 24 hours from the posting to the school intervening.

After that incident parents and players then brought forth the coaching complaints which led to the letter above. Any team chat is required to have a coach be a member and to use only the school approved app. The chat which had the racist video posted to it was not a team chat and no coach was in it. It was a rogue chat created by one kid and not used by the majority of the kids.
