If you haven’t read what south side’s newest state rep wrote about what Mike Hugo, speaking for the Framingham Democratic Town Committee said, click to read her op-ed to The SOURCE below.
Hugo direct quote:
“Our fear is that if an unqualified sonographer misdiagnoses a heart defect, an organ defect, spina bifida, or an encephalopathic defect, that becomes a very local issue because our school budget will have to absorb the cost of a child in special education, supplying lots and lots of special services to children, who were born with the defect.”
Some Crisis Pregnancy Centers will offer sonogram for the woman to hear their baby’s heartbeat. Sonogram do not diagnose any birth defects. There are specific tests offered within ob/gyn care that test and look for birth defects. This is an outright lie by Hugo. He builds on this lie by saying these women seeking counseling at CPC’s may be “tricked” into carrying a baby with birth defects which will increase the cost of school said hypothetical child. This is a disgusting take that it’s all a matter of public costs.
Further, what is determined to be acceptable to him? A child with a mild physical disability? Should that child be afforded a life to live? What about a child on the spectrum? Should that child be allowed to live? Or is the cost to educate too much for Hugo? Even more galling that it came from someone with a special needs child. So his child was educated at a higher cost due to a disability but now that’s not ok?
CPC’s don’t trick anyone into carrying a child. They offer guidance if a mother decides to carry their baby through birth. They offer clothes, diapers and formula if the mother keeps the child. We live in a very easy state as far as abortion access. Why now is the “competition” to planned parenthood an issue?
