John Stefanini authors a proposal ordinance to limit the number of apartments built annually.

The following is a proposal to create an ordinance that can limit the number of residential units to be built annually. While this is only a proposal, it will be up for discussion at the May 16th City Council meeting. This ordinance is necessitated by the massive apartment building being proposed all over south side, which is part of the current Mayor’s master plan. The Mayor’s DTF Waverly Strategic Development Plan… is APARTMENTS… tons and tons of apartments!

John Stefanini, District 8, City Councilor, represents one of the areas where these massive mega-apartments are going in by the dozen and it appears that he wants to slow the growth, as right now, if there’s DTF real estate sold, you better believe there’s an apartment building in the works.

This chart illustrates what the plan is in the near term. Under Spicer in four years, approximately 1000 units of large complex, apartment housing was built on the south side. In the first complete year of Sisitsky ending December 31, 2022, there are already 1200+ units under various levels of review, all in the immediate downtown areas.

We expect that there will be support on this measure by councilors Leombruno, King, Ottaviani, Bryant, Alexander, Mallach, and Cannon, with Steiner, Morales, and Long, as wildcards. Because after all if they limit the number of units per year, and the massive complexes attracted to the CB zone of DTF, this will limit and halt any developments to be proposed on the North Side of town. Fucking NIMBY’s.

    Enough is enough, the southside has had enough. The town (class of 63′ FSHS) that I grew up in doesn’t exist anymore. St. George Theater, Bonds, Liggatts, Paul’s Bakery and of course the Well. Old people like me now long for those days, ice cream at the Well sitting at the common on sunny day. Wow, life was good. Downtown now? No shopping, not even a drugstore to get your meds, everything is north, guess what build some new places out there. BTW take a look at the beautiful work that was done next to the courthouse, the veteran’s park is really special. I walk by there daily to remind myself how lucky we are for the many who sacrificed for us all. Oldguy(78)
