Cesar Stewart Morales changes districts. Councilor did not seek re-election in D2… Was it because he had planned a move?

On December 7, 2023 a real estate transaction occurred involving a sitting City Councilor. District 2 City Councilor for Saxonville, Cesar Stewart-Morales and his husband Jeffrey, closed on a house on Nobscot Drive, in Nobscot.

Cesar and his family have purchased a 3 year old, “spectacular Brimstone Estates dream home”. The property boasts 4100 sq ft of living space, 4 beds and 4 baths, on nearly 1.7 acres of land. The transaction was for $1.475 million dollars.

In July 2023, he reported to slate-reporter Jesse Collings of the Metrowest Daily News that he had decided to step aside, and not run for re-election. In that article, Stewart-Morales said the city needed younger voices and new officials that better resemble our diverse community. Then he threw his backing, financial and otherwise behind Brandon Ward (D), who beat Sean Silk (R) in the recent November election.

The property bought by Stewart Morales was listed for sale on October 5th and was pending under agreement 9 days later. It is likely that Stewart-Morales didn’t step aside from re-election for younger voices, etc. It is more likely that he had planned a move, and had already been looking at properties outside his district. His new house is in District 1, which is represented by an ally of his, Christine Long.
