A LOOK BACK: Racist & homophobic lawyer/cop Simoneau quits in advance of IA report recommending termination

Brian Simoneau, the double dipping racist and homophobic assistant to Police Chief has resigned from his position in lieu of termination. In his role, Simoneau advised the chief on matters such as labor relations, internal affairs and on cases. Over the last 5 years Simoneau has been the subject of multiple internal affairs investigations as well as being named as a defendant on multiple court cases including but not limited to Stuart v. the City of Framingham et al. While the February judgement in that matter favored the city and Simoneau, it seems that that wasn’t the only matter dogging the attorney.

It was was widely speculated for years that he was double dipping. You see he was working for the police helping them nab bad guys, while also representing criminals as a lawyer, often while on the clock working for the police department. The police knowingly allowed Simoneau to maintain his side business of being a lawyer on the clock.

Most recently, leading to his resignation, there was an investigation into whether Simoneau was utilizing city resources for his private job. This current issue is believed to be regarding Simoneau using the police account to run background checks on people for his private practice. While it might not seem like much, the transition on police chiefs, from Steven Trask to Lester Baker, Framingham’s first black chief, may have been the true impetus that led to serious investigation and ultimately to his resignation.
