TONIGHT (6/29/2022) AT SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING: E-Hall Pass to be discussed at approximately 7:45 pm.
E-Hall pass is a digital pass that is used to track how long students visit the bathroom, locker room, nurse’s office, another classroom, etc. It collects the data for each student’s comings and goings so approved administrators can see pass histories or look for patterns. Have you seen the people that this city hires as administrators. Purnima? Benabdallah? Johnson?
A special request on a Chromebook or phone is requested. A teacher approves it pending any red flags in the system, such as another student he should avoid out in the hall at the same time, then logs him back in on his return. If he were out of class for more than a set amount of time, the application would summon an administrator to check on him.
Children who are out of class for too long, or too regularly can be given detention.
If you child has IBS, heavy periods, are pregnant, depressed, and/or other potentially embarrassing conditions, and they are not comfortable speaking about these matters to administrators or having the matters put on their permanent record, and the student is out of class beyond the prescribed time, they will be treated as guilty.
The data of location IS stored. The system tracks patterns of individual students. The data can be used aid in the solving on crimes, vandalism, etc, but tracking the students – treats all students as guilty – equally.
Sounds a lot like being on parole and I only know that because my dad was on parole the whole time while I was growing up. Away too long? Out of contact too long – and the fuzz would swarm.
